This is the first major news article I've read discussing what it means to die intestate. It raises some good points.


Although, even if you die "testate" your family may still be forced to deal with the probate court, lawyers, and fees. Having a will is the first step. Next, is making sure a probate judge does not need to ever look at your will. This is accomplished through the use of a trust or by beneficiary designations, joint ownership, ladybird deeds, and other legal tools.
